C&J Enterprises believes the following points are key foundations needed to build repeat customers and sustain operations.
1. Providing aggregate materials on specification with Indiana Department of Transportation Standards, from accredited and certified production facilities so every delivery is of the same quality and easily duplicated. Quality and repeatable work requires the correct ingredients every time.
2. Conducting operations in a way that maximizes the safety of those around us, the safety of our employees, and within safety limits and capabilities of our equipment. CJE understands that safety is an often discussed- yet often overlooked- aspect of business operations that truly makes a difference in the lives of those around us.
3. Providing value added services whenever possible, with minimal additional cost to the end customer, using our unique capabilities and specialized equipment. We invest in our equipment to get our jobs done- but it is our customized trucks and specialized attachments that set us apart as a leader of equals.
4. Fostering an environment of employee engagement, utilizing new and emerging technologies wherever practical, and provide above and beyond customer service every single delivery. Without customers we cannot sustain our business operations. Without our employees we cannot sustain our customers. It is a mutually symbiotic relationship that truly starts from the ground up and is rewarded in our work.
C & J Enterprises was started by Southern Indiana native Caleb Stephenson. Caleb served honorably in the United States Coast Guard during Operation Enduring Freedom. His desire to serve his fellow citizens continues to show through C & J Enterprises volunteering efforts during disasters in our communities, participating in community outreach programs, and providing sponsorship for events that grow and foster relationships within our area. Although he is the owner he does not just sit back and watch, he is out in the field repairing trucks, picking up new assets, going to meetings with partners and customers, and driving trucks when needed.
Caleb is the owner, but a lot of the credit goes to his 4- legged fur buddy Ares. You will never see Caleb without Ares nearby. Ares loves to ride in the dump trucks, ride four wheelers, and explore new places with Caleb. Every time Ares hears a truck start he gets so excited because he thinks he is going for a ride.
Justin began his journey with our company as a driver in 2020. Through his strong work ethic and consistent embodiment of CJE’s core values, he was promoted first to fleet mechanic and later took on additional responsibilities as our dispatcher. Over time, as the company continued to grow, Justin’s role expanded further, and he was entrusted with managing our Commercial Services Division. In this role, Justin oversaw truck dispatching, maintained up-to-date vehicle maintenance and DOT compliance, attended vendor meetings, coordinated with customers, scheduled drivers and outside vendor services, and handled logistics and hours management to support our expanding operations.
In 2024, Justin was promoted to Division Manager after leading the successful launch of our Regional Cartage Division. Through his industry knowledge and ability to network, Justin helped expand our service offerings, bringing in over-the-road tractors and trailers to better align CJE’s capabilities with our customers’ needs.
Today, Justin manages nearly all fleet operations and oversees our maintenance facility. His commitment to being On Time, On Target, On Spec is reflected in CJE’s continued growth and operational excellence.
In 2022 Indiana native and Marine Corps Veteran Jeff Mayott joined the team at C&J. In his military service Jeff was decorated for his involvement in the middle east conflicts. His service to his Country and unit were noted on his uniform for all to see. Taking on a new lane in life, after being Honorably Discharged, he joined our team as a Sales Manager and quickly also took on the role of Compliance Manager.
Day to day, Jeff manages external customer relationships and navigate the complex DOT compliance environment that we operate in. His rolls are critical to our mission of being On Time, On Target, and On Spec. As a member of the CJE leadership team his insight and opinions are used to chart the paths forward our company takes as we continue to grow and evolve to meet the growing needs of our customers.
